Using 3rd party scan software |
Scan examples Vuescan 8.4.47 software used with the Canon 8800F. Vuescan settings used can be found on page 1 of this review. |
Canon ScanGear USM A=400 R=2.1 T=0 |
Vuescan USM A=400 R=2.1 T=0
Main difference Scangear vs Vuescan = noise pattern |
Now something interesting did happen! |
Wile doing the 8600F review I did found out that the 8600 was correctly focused to the |
thickness of a standard slim slide frame so tweaking the focusing distance didn't result in any |
gain in resolution/sharpness. |
Anyhow in the case of my sample of the 8800F the focus seams to be against the glass surface |
or maybe even below the glass!! (I might try to find out more about this later!) |
Vuescan USM A=400 R=2.1 T=0 film directly on the scanner glass surface |
YES! the scan performed with film mounted directly on the scanner glass bed is the sharpest so from now and on all scans will be performed with film on glass bed. |
Vuescan USM A=400 R=2.1 T=0 film directly on the scanner glass surface |
Silverfast SE USM A=400 R=2.1 T=0 film directly on the scanner glass surface |
The scan to the left was performed with a demo In the scan to the left a 4x scan was performed (Upgrade from SE to SE+ costs 94€!!!!) Personally I would not buy or install Silverfast. I suggest you stick to ScanGear or if you feel that |
Silverfast SE plus USM A=400 R=2.1 T=0 film directly on the scanner glass surface 4X sample |
I will not use Silverfast again It is now uninstalled! |
Some more Vuescan samples |
