Body parts
Tailgate strut / gas spring
Tailgate gas lifter struts / springs that will fit Range Rover P38,s from 1994-2002
original P/N ALR1050, 3937AM.
I fount that gas springs from Audi 100 Saloon fits nice.
It might be a bit more powerful than the original strut but what do I know
my originals that I replaced wasn't able to hold the tailgate with a few millimeters
of snow on top!

Manufacturer Part Number 0280217533 / 0280.217.533 / F00C.2G2.029Some extra MAF info that I found online (I can't confirm that this is correct):
The Bosch part number on the sensor insert is F 00C 2G2 029
The 99-02 P38 uses the exact same part as a BMW M5
Some BMW M5 gurus use the sensor insert from a VW, F 00C 2G2 032
Connector is the same as 029 minus the latch (Can be solved with tie raps.The MAF of 2000 Golf GL 2.0L Gas. VW PN: 06A 906 461A, Bosch PN 0 280 218 002, it has the Bosch OOC 2G2 032 sensor insert which can replace the 029 insert .

My story goes like this, I first assumed that all Range Rovers was compatible in
regards of wheels. This was a big mistake I mad this mistake even thought
I actually did some investigation first the bolt pattern and thread was the same
and some spigot rings was easy to get so what ells could go wrong?
My investigation revealed that I might had to use some spigot rings to make the
wheels from a newer Range Rover (MKIII L322) to fit my good old P38.
I got a great deal on a set of L322 wheels so I just bought them, after all a set of
spigot rings shouldn't be that expensive! Wheel the winter came and I was about
to change (I use studded during winter and the one I got had such tires in good condition fitted) the wheels I
used during summer came off and the new set on, DAM It!
I missed one variable parameter in wheel fitting, the nut shank dimension!
I had never had a car before with such nuts so I guess I might be excused for that.
This part of the page is so you don't have to do the same blunder :0)
A set of spigot rings |
Various Range Rover modells use different sized centre bores so if you by a pair of 2nd hand alloy wheels from a L322 and want to fit them on a P38 ,you will need spigot rings for the correct fitment. The spigot is the part in the centre of the hub that you rest the inside centre of the wheel on. Fitting the wheels on your car without the rings will cause problems. As a start,as you make your speed over 50 miles,your wheels might start to vibrate. It will also put more load on the wheel studs and they might break over a long term of use! |
My problem started here! I didn't have the right wheel nuts to fit the L322 wheels
I got from a early L322 4.4L Range Rover I had to buy a set of new nutts (The black ones)
Some information that I have found at various places states that:
D2, RR P38, BMW X5 wheels will fit.
L322 RR wheels will fit with spigot rings and new wheelnutsLug Nut original P38 Part (The one far left in the image above)
